Southside Storyteller Festival

Once upon a time, in a land far in the heart of Birmingham, stood Five Points Southside! 

The Southside Storyteller Festival is the Inaugural Festival from The Five Points Alliance, 
The J. Clyde, & Orbit Salon celebrating 130 years of the Five Points South Birmingham. The Southside Storyteller Festival will be a celebration centered on The Storyteller Fountain created by Frank Fleming in the heart of Five Points South with the stage located at Highlands United Methodist Church. From The Arova Contemporary Ballet to MONSTER drinks to Street performers to everything fantastic and creative will be on Southside. 

On Saturday, October 28th from 2PM to 6PM, those who enjoy an inspired story through spoken-word, poetry, and storytelling will be entertained at the fountain by talented groups from;

·       Real Life Poets, Inc.

·       The Sister City Connection Spoken Word Collective

·       Ada Long Creative Writing Workshop for High School Students

·       UAB

·       Green Bucket Press

·       Nitty Gritty Magic City Reading Series

·       and more

The “Five Points Star” Singer/Songwriter competition will be an online and day of the festival competition with the various Birmingham artists playing their artistic creations during the event at open mics throughout Southside's amazing restaurants & bars and on stage. Winner will be crowned as the "THE FIVE POINTS STAR". The Storyteller Brew will be served at various venues and you can recieve an extra vote in the #FivePointsStar for every purchase of The J Clyde Southside brew.

Five Points South through various venues, competitions, local stories, local songwriting, and local businesses will continue to show its support for the creative side of Birmingham. Businesses will have specials and celebrations for the month of October through the presenting of the Storyteller Fountain inspired T-shirts unique to the festival available at 
Delta Blues Hot Tamales,Good Neighbor Body Art, UPS Store Southside, & Orbit Salon: Local Artist Boutique, inspired windows, costumes, and storytelling.
